World Bank approves loan worth Rs 9.29 billion for water supply project in Shimla

The World Bank has granted in-principle approval for a financial assistance package of Rs 9.29 billion for a water supply and sewage project in Shimla. The assistance will be provided as a development policy loan. Shimla has six sources of drinking water supply with a total capacity of 54 million litres per day, including the Gumma and Giri rivers. The loan will help augment the Gumma water source from the Sutlej river and construct storage dams on the Giri river.
