Central government approves intra-state transmission system – green energy corridor phase-II

The central government has approved the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase II for the intra-state transmission system for the addition of around 10,750 ckt. km of transmission lines and 27,500 MVA of transformation capacity at substations. The scheme will facilitate grid integration and power evacuation of around 20 GW of renewable energy power projects in seven states – Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Ke­rala, Rajas­than, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The scheme is expected to be developed at a total estimated cost of Rs 120.31 billion with central financial assistance of Rs 39.7 billion, that is, 33 per cent of the project cost. The transmission systems will be created over a period of five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
