PMC to produce electricity from its newly built wet waste treatment plant

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in Maharashtra, with its newly built wet waste treatment plant in Erandwane, aims to generate 25 units of electricity per day by treating 4 metric tonnes of segregated wet waste. The PMC will collect the segregated wet waste from 200 hotels in the vicinity and treat it at the plant. The 25 units of power generated here will be used for the sewage treatment plant (STP) that is located on the same premises. This STP was inaugurated on September 11, 2019 and was developed at a cost of Rs 1 million.
