Government notifies amendments to IT Rules 2021 paving way for setting up GACs

The government has notified amendments to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 to enhance due diligence requirements and ensure the accountability of social media and other intermediaries. As per the amendments, the central government will, by notification, establish one or more grievance appellate committees within three months from the date of commencement of the rules.
