Trial runs have been completed on Bhootnath – Malahi Pakri stretch under the Patna Metro Rail Project Phase I. Besides, the installation of pier girders is underway at Mithapur station for the elevated stretch of Khemnichak – Mithapur.
Additionally, a tunnel is likely to be constructed beneath Rajendra Nagar Terminal. The tunnel will run from Moinul Haq Stadium through Rajendra Nagar to Malahi Pakri. The 6km tunnel from Moinul Haq Stadium to Patna Junction is likely to be completed by May 2026.
Moreover, about 1 km of tunnel excavation is pending between Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Gandhi Maidan. Tunnel construction is currently underway beyond Akashwani station. Construction work on the elevated corridor from Danapur to Patliputra Junction is also underway. Meanwhile, utility shifting work from Patliputra Junction to Patna Junction is likely to begin soon.
Phase I of the project involves the development of a 32.5 km long metro rail network in Patna, Bihar at an estimated cost of Rs 139.25 billion. It involves the development of two corridors, viz. Corridor 1 (Danapur Cantt-Mithapur) and Corridor 2 (Patna Junction-Patna ISBT).
