Indian Railways (IR) has commissioned Kavach on 190 km long Prayagraj (excluding)-Kanpur (excluding) section of the Delhi-Howrah high density corridor. The system has been implemented through train no. 14163, with footplate inspection conducted onboard the train on the route between Subedarganj to Manauri station to test the performance of Kavach.
Earlier, trial run of the system was conducted using WAP-7 locomotives with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coach configurations of 8, 16, and 22, along with a 20-coach Vande Bharat rake. Besides, IR also carried passenger trials of the system through Chauri Chaura Express. Further, IR has planned to install Kavach on Ghaziabad -Tundla section in the next phase.
