The foundation stone of the polypropylene plant at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Kochi Refinery was laid on March 11, 2026. The plant would have a production capacity of 400 kilo tonnes per annum (ktpa).
It is expected to boost domestic polymer production, reduce dependence on imports and create opportunities for downstream industries. The move is further expected to strengthen the industrial growth in the region and support industries including packaging, textiles, and medical devices.
