Inland Waterways Development Council (IWDC 3.0) approved over Rs 15 billion projects to enhance inland water transport across India

The Inland Waterways Development Council has approved over Rs 15 billion projects during its third meeting held in Kochi. With a road map to enhance inland water transport across India, the initiatives aim to strengthen green mobility, cargo movement and river tourism by expanding infrastructure on key waterways. Key projects include over Rs 9 billion for new waterway projects, including the construction of 110 jetties across Odisha and the Northeast region, and the implementation of the national river traffic and navigation system in Maharashtra. More than Rs 4.65 billion has been earmarked for asset procurement to improve navigability, safety and year-round operations.
