The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved three multi-tracking railway projects worth Rs 90.72 billion on February 24, 2026. These are:
- Gondia-Jabalpur Rail Doubling Project: It involves doubling of a 230.5 km long railway line between Jabalpur and Gondia railway stations in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 46.71 billion.
- Punarakh-Kiul Third and Fourth Line Project: It involves laying the third and fourth rail lines from Punarakh to Kiul in Bihar.
- Gamharia-Chandil Third and Fourth Rail Line Project: It involves laying a 56 km long third and fourth rail line project from Gamharia to Chandil station in Jharkhand.
