Madhya Pradesh government, DP World partner to build Powarkheda logistics composite hub

DP World has signed an agreement with the government of Madhya Pradesh to develop the Powarkheda logistics composite hub, an inland logistics gateway aimed at boosting export competitiveness and supply-chain efficiency in Central India.

Spread over 88.3 acres, the Powarkheda hub will integrate rail connectivity, warehousing, cold-chain facilities, container handling and maintenance, and containerised export-import services, directly linking central Indian production centres with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) at Nhava Sheva. The facility will also offer domestic rail links to major consumption centres and leased land for value-addition and cargo processing.

DP World estimates the hub could cut transit times to JNPA by 30-40 per cent, lower logistics costs, reduce post-harvest losses in perishables, and shift freight from road to rail, easing congestion and emissions.
