India’s national highway toll receipts are anticipated to surpass Rs 1 trillion in 2026-27, propelled by increased traffic volumes, the extension of high-speed lanes, and modifications to tolling systems.
Toll revenue is expected to increase by 25 per cent, from Rs 614.08 billion in 2024-25 to over Rs 750 billion in 2025-26. Officials credit the rise to increased vehicle traffic, economic expansion, and broader use of electronic tolling.
By late 2026, a satellite-based multi-lane free flow (MLFF) system will be implemented nationwide by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). According to officials, the system may reduce leakages and add at least Rs 60 billion each year.
