The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has reportedly asked state governments to submit proposals for setting up centres of excellence (CoE) for artificial intelligence (AI). The secretary, MeitY, mentioned that utilisation of the allocated funds is an ongoing process, adding that AI-led activities in India are gaining momentum in line with global developments.
To address the growing requirements in this area, the ministry has also moved away from a tender-based approach and adopted an empanelment system.
