Indian Railways achieves 673.64 mt freight loading in FY 2025-26 (till August 2025) 

Indian Railways (IR) achieved a freight loading of 673.64 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year (FY) 2025-26 (till August 2025), marking an increase of 3.1 per cent over the 653.22 mt recorded during the corresponding period last year.

In August 2025 alone, IR achieved a freight loading of 130.9 mt, indicating an 8.5 per cent increase compared to the 120.6 mt recorded in August 2024. Commodity-wise, there was a 31 per cent increase in balance other goods, 22 per cent in finished steel, nine per cent in coal, six per cent in domestic containers, five per cent in export-import (EXIM) container loading, and about five per cent in mineral oil.

Besides, IR generated freight revenue of Rs 141 billion in August 2025, its highest-ever monthly total for freight revenue.
