Satish Kumar has been re-appointed as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board (RB), with a one-year extension to his tenure effective from September 1, 2025. His re-employment is on a contract basis, under existing terms and conditions, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
He is an officer of the 1986 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME). Previously, he served as the Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), where he was responsible for overseeing critical aspects of traction and rolling stock across Indian Railways (IR).
