Around 12,600 mld sewage treatment capacity developed under AMRUT 1.0 and 2.0

The central government has developed a sewage treatment capacity of around 12,600 million litres per day (mld) through sewage treatment plants (STPs) under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 1.0 and AMRUT 2.0. Of this, around 3,500 mld of the treated sewage is considered fit for recycling and reuse.

Further, among all the states implementing the scheme, Gujarat has installed the highest sewage treatment capacity of around 2,770 mld while West Bengal has set up the lowest STP capacity of around 100 mld.
