Rajasthan government approves Rs 51.20 billion for drinking water connections across state 

The government of Rajasthan has approved Rs 51.20 billion for improving water supply and providing over 800,000 new drinking water connections across the state. Undertaken under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0, the initiative aims to benefit around 3.5 million people in 176 cities and towns in Rajasthan.

Alongside, works pertaining to drinking water supply system will be undertaken in Jaipur at an estimated cost of Rs 5.6 billion under AMRUT 2.0. Of this total budget, works worth over Rs 4.15 billion will be done in the Municipal Corporation Greater area, while works costing over Rs 1.45 billion will be carried out in the Municipal Corporation Heritage area. These are expected to be completed within 30 months after the work order gets issued. These works involve the installation of 11,400 smart water meters in the identified areas, laying of new water pipelines and replacement of outdated ones. Additionally, 17 reservoirs and three tanks with a capacity of 50 million litres are to be constructed.
