India and Singapore are exploring a 2,000 MW cross-border power interconnection as part of efforts to expand regional electricity trade.
One of the options under consideration is a land-based transmission corridor of around 3,000 km linking Imphal in India with Singapore through Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia. The proposed interconnection could support cross-border electricity trade, renewable energy integration and regional energy security. The discussions also covered cooperation under the ASEAN Power Grid, including regional transmission, multilateral power trade, battery energy storage and other clean energy technologies.
