FedEx to develop integrated air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City at Delhi airport

FedEx is to develop a $150 million integrated air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City, Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, to strengthen connectivity across north and east India. The 230,000 square feet (sq. ft) facility will increase processing capacity from 600 to 5,000 packages per hour, with scope to scale further. The 50 acre development has a total potential of 1.5 million-2 million sq. ft, with Phase I covering around 1 million sq. ft across nearly 30 acres. The design for Phase I has been finalised, enabling works have commenced and construction is expected to start soon. The fully automated hub will include international gateway and pickup/delivery operations in one facility and feature an advanced auto-sorter, X-ray machines, enhanced security systems and intelligent package-handling technologies.
