BPCL completes MMBPL Gambhir river crossing protection works 

BPCL recently completed protection works for the Mumbai-Manmad-Bijwasan pipeline Gambhir river crossing. The work, carried out in collaboration with IIT Madras, saw the integration of steel sheet piles, geotextiles, gabion mattresses, reinforced cement concrete/plain cement concrete and scour-control measures. The move also marks BPCL’s first application of steel sheet piling for pipeline protection works at a river crossing. The 2024-25 monsoon resulted in scour and erosion, reduced the soil cover over the pipeline and created the need for a permanent protection solution.
