The government of Andhra Pradesh has approved Rs 16.38 billion to acquire 6,248.54 acres for the Phase II expansion of three greenfield ports; Ramayapatnam, Mulapeta and Machilipatnam. The largest allocation, Rs 8.51 billion, is for acquiring 2,924.45 acres at Ramayapatnam, followed by Rs 4.4 billion for 1,903.39 acres at Mulapeta and nearly Rs 3.47 billion for 1,420.70 acres at Machilipatnam.
The land acquisition is aimed at accelerating port-led industrial growth, strengthening logistics infrastructure and enhancing cargo-handling capacity.
