The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued amendments to the revised guidelines for the installation of prototype wind turbine models.
Under the amendment, the limit of up to three prototype wind turbines per model for synchronisation and commissioning has remained unchanged. However, the ministry has added that the scheduled power generated from these prototype turbines may now be procured by discoms or any other entity. The power may be purchased at a mutually agreed tariff or at a tariff determined under the regulations of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission or the concerned State Electricity Regulatory Commission. In addition, the ministry has revised the provision relating to installation of prototype wind turbines. The amended provision states that installation of prototype wind turbines will not be permitted until the model is included in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (Wind), replacing the earlier requirement for inclusion in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers.
