Madhepura Electric Locomotive Private Limited (MELPL), a joint venture (JV) between Alstom and Indian Railways (IR) has received a contract worth 107 million euros (about Rs 11.5 billion) for maintenance of 250 WAG-12B electric locomotives at MELPL’s Nagpur depot.
The scope of work involves full maintenance of 250 locomotives along with the depot’s infrastructure for a period of five years. These Prima T8 WAG-12B locomotives of 12,000 horsepower (HP) can haul 6,000 tonnes of load at maximum speed of 120 km per hour (kmph).
