The Maharashtra government has laid the foundation stone for the construction of groynes bunds, jetties and approach roads, and dredging of the existing channel at Akshi Sakhar. The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) invited bids for the project in November 2025. Yashyog Infrastructure and Development Private Limited won the contract worth Rs 1.28 billion on March 16, 2026. The work is expected to be completed in 24 months. The scope of work includes the construction of breakwater, dredging of a navigational channel, construction of jetties and approach roads as well as reclamation works.
