Anshumali Dwivedi is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Head of Strategy and Whole-time Director (WTD) at Essar Ports Limited. He also serves on the boards of the company’s subsidiaries and plays an instrumental role in shaping Essar Ports’ strategic and financial direction across the maritime and logistics sector. With over two decades of experience spanning finance, investments, strategy and business leadership, he has contributed significantly to strengthening the company’s growth and global outlook.
Dwivedi began his professional journey with the Essar Group in 2007 as part of its Business Leadership Program as a management trainee. Initially, assigned to Essar Shipping, he then moved to the Chairman’s Secretariat, where he gained a comprehensive top-down view of the shipping, ports and logistics businesses. This experience played a significant role in his rapid progression within the organisation. Between 2010 and 2014, he served as head of investor relations for Essar Shipping Ports and Logistics, leading capital market initiatives, institutional investor engagement and strategic partnerships.
One of the defining chapters of his career was his appointment as chief executive officer of the Port of Algoma in Canada in 2014. During this assignment, he managed a complex international business environment, led strategic and operational initiatives, and worked closely with multiple stakeholders. The experience broadened his global perspective on governance, infrastructure development and business leadership.
Dwivedi co-chaired the City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and was a member of the Northern Ontario Multi Modal Transport Committee. He also served on the board of Northern Ontario Angels, one of North America’s leading angel investment networks. His engagement with start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures reflects his keen interest in innovation, governance and emerging business ecosystems.
He holds an honours degree in Economics from the University of Delhi and an MBA in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. Known for combining strategic insight with financial acumen and global exposure, Dwivedi believes in building resilient, future-ready organisations through disciplined execution and long-term vision. He has also been a national-level pistol shooter, having won many medals in the National Shooting Championship of India. Beyond his professional commitments, he actively mentors start-ups and remains deeply interested in entrepreneurship and innovation.
