IR achieves freight loading of 145 mt during May 2026

Indian Railways (IR) has achieved freight loading of 145 million tonnes (mt) during May 2026, an increase of
1.3 per cent over corresponding period of the last year. Commodity-wise, IR registered an increase of 16 per
cent in balance other goods, 6.2 per cent in fertilisers, 4.8 per cent in iron-ore, 3.5 per cent in pig iron and
finished steel, and one per cent in coal loading.
Besides, IR recorded passenger traffic of 610 million as compared to the same month last year. This includes
300 million of non-suburban traffic.
