South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone has commenced operations in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh under
Indian Railways on June 1, 2026. It comprises of four key divisions which includes Vijayawada division
(reoragsanised after the addition of Kondapalli to Motumari Junction (excluding) section from Secunderabad
division), Guntakal Division (reorganised with the transfer of the Raichur (including)-Wadi section to
Secunderabad), Guntur division (reorganised with the transfer of the Vishnupuram (including)-Pagidipalli-
Janpahad section to Secunderabad), and Visakhapatnam division (formed from the reorganised, bifurcated
Waltair division along with addition of the Palasa-Ichchapuram (including) section from Khurda Road).
The SCoR is expected to improve railway administration, project execution, passenger services and freight
operations across Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The operationalisation is aimed at
enhancing regional connectivity, expediting infrastructure development and strengthening logistics
capabilities.
