North Eastern Railway (NER) has completed doubling works on the Unaula-Pipraich section of the Gorakhpur Cantt-Valmikinagar Rail Doubling Project in Uttar Pradesh.
Besides, on May 21, 2026, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a safety inspection on the new 2.59 km cut connection between the Unaula-Pipraich section of the project.
The project involves doubling of a 95 km long existing railway line between Gorakhpur Cantonment and Valmikinagar in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, respectively at an estimated cost of Rs 11.2 billion.
