Indian Railways (IR) has sanctioned Rs 3.62 billion for Kavach installation on 1,478 route km (rkm) across Northern Railway (NR) zone.
This includes 1,012 rkm on balance sections of Firozpur railway division at an estimated cost of Rs 2.41 billion, while 466 rkm covering Jalandhar City Junction-Jammu Tawi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Batala-Pathankot Junction and Banihal-Baramulla sections under the Jammu railway division will also be installed with Kavach at a cost of about Rs 1.21 billion.
