IR forms South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone

Indian Railways (IR) has formed the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone, with headquarters at Visakhapatnam. Reportedly, IR has directed the transfer of seven stations of the 50-km Palasa-Ichchapuram section under the Khurda railway division of the East Coast Railway zone in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, to the SCoR zone. These stations include Palasa, Summadevi, Mandasa road, Baruva, Sompeta, Jhadupudi and Ichchapuram, which are small to mid-sized stations handling mainly passenger traffic, with no station being a major freight loading point.
