The newly extended runway and CAT-I lighting system at Dibrugarh airport in Assam were commissioned on March 19, 2026, marking a key infrastructure upgrade at the airport. The runway has been extended from 1,830 metres to 2,291 metres, eliminating payload restrictions for A320-type aircraft. The CAT-I system will enhance night operations and low-visibility landings. A new automatic weather observation system has also been installed to support safer and more efficient operations.
