The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved three railway projects worth Rs 234.37 billion to enhance mobility, providing improved operational efficiency and service reliability for Indian Railways (IR) on May 5, 2026. These are:
- Nagda-Mathura Third and Fourth Railway Line Project involves laying a 567.86 km long new line from Nagda to Mathura station in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
- Guntakal-Wadi Third and Fourth Rail Line Project involves laying 230 km long third and fourth railway lines between Guntakal and Wadi, traversing Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
- Burhwal Junction-Sitapur Junction Third and Fourth Rail Line Project involves laying a 176 km long third rail line from Burhwal Junction to Sitapur in Bihar.
