Indian Railways inaugurates BEML’s high-speed bullet train manufacturing complex in Karnataka

Indian Railways (IR) has inaugurated Aditya-Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML’s) dedicated high-speed bullet train manufacturing complex in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Presently, the facility will develop B-28 trainsets and is equipped with robotic laser welding, universal hydraulic jigs, and integrated systems for mechanical and electrical outfitting.

The prototype of the train is likely to be rolled out by April 2027 with production to commence in the latter half of the year. In October 2024, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) awarded the contract worth Rs 8.66 billion to BEML for manufacturing of two high speed train sets, having design speed of 280 km per hour (kmph) and operational speed of about 250 kmph. Besides, IR has planned to launch the train on 97 km long Surat-Vapi stretch, part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor by August 2027.
