The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated funds worth Rs 5.5 billion under the state budget for 2026-27 for the Lucknow Metro Rail Project (East-West Corridor). The project involves the development of a new corridor in the city, spanning 11.16 km with 12 stations. Seven stations from Charbagh to Niwazganj are likely to be underground, spanning 6.87 km, and the remaining five stations from Vasant Kunj to Thakurganj are to be elevated, spanning 4.28 km. The project entails an investment of Rs 58.01 billion.
