Government mandates 20 per cent blending of ethanol with motor spirit

The government has mandated oil companies to sell ethanol blended motor spirit with the percentage of ethanol at up to 20 per cent as per the Bureau of Indian Standards’ specifications with a minimum research octane number of 95. The order will be effective from April 1, 2026 across states and union territories.
