Commercial operations commence at new terminal of Guwahati airport

The new terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam commenced commercial operations on February 22, 2026, boosting annual passenger handling capacity to 13.1 million.

The airport supports 21 domestic and three international routes, strengthening Guwahati’s role as the primary aviation gateway to India’s North-East and its connectivity with South and Southeast Asia.

The terminal was activated through a phased, operations-led transition. Live trials were conducted across check-in, baggage handling, security screening and aircraft turnaround to ensure readiness before full deployment.

The upgrade is expected to improve passenger flow, enhance operational efficiency and support future traffic growth across the strategically important region.
