Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) have signed a crude oil sale agreement on December 17, 2025. With the agreement, the sale and purchase of crude oil supplied to NRL from the nominated fields of ONGC in the Northeast has been formalised and streamlined. Currently, NRL sources around 30 per cent of the crude oil requirement from ONGC. The agreement is expected to strengthen energy security for the north-eastern region.
