On January 27, 2026, the Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for four projects worth Rs 542.7 million at the Chennai Port Authority.
The projects inaugurated include Andaman and Nicobar passenger terminal (Rs 298 million), an indigenous vessel traffic monitoring system (Rs 225.8 million), and channel buoys/navigational aids (Rs 3.9 million). Besides, the foundation stone was laid for the renovation of port gate 2 (Rs 15 million). These projects are intended to enhance passenger movement, vessel traffic management, navigational safety, and overall port efficiency.
