Juniper Green Energy Limited has commissioned India’s first merchant battery energy storage system (BESS) project with a capacity of 100 MWh at Bikaner in Rajasthan.
The project has been developed through its subsidiary, Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited. The 100 MWh BESS has completed trial operations and received approval from the northern regional load despatch centre with commercial operations. The project is now fully operational at its rated capacity and ranks among the largest operating BESS installations in India. The merchant BESS is expected to generate revenues through multiple market mechanisms, including peak power arbitrage, grid balancing services and participation in ancillary services markets.
