Finance Expenditure Committee approves funds for construction of Trans-Ganga City to Kanpur City Four lane bridge Project

The Finance Expenditure Committee of the Uttar Pradesh government has approved funding of Rs 7.3 billion for the construction of the Trans-Ganga City-Kanpur City four-lane bridge project. Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) had proposed a revised project cost of Rs 7.99 billion. In June 2025, the Finance Expenditure Committee rejected the proposal with certain objections, which were subsequently addressed by UPSIDA before resubmitting the revised documents. The proposal has now received final approval. The project involves the construction of a 4 km long bridge, of which approximately 1.825 km will span the Ganga river. The bridge will start near the Ranighat Jalkal pumping station and extend up to Dhobi Ghat. In addition, around a 0.4 km approach road will be developed up to Gate No. 2 of Trans-Ganga City, with approach roads on both sides upgraded to four-lane standards.
