Assam government to transfer approximately 992 acres of land for proposed airport in Silchar

The Assam cabinet has approved the transfer of approximately 992 acres of land at the Doloo Tea Estate in Cachar district to the Airports Authority of India for the proposed greenfield airport near Silchar. The allocation has increased from the earlier 826 acres. The new airport is intended to replace Silchar’s existing Kumbhirgram facility, a defence airport, for which expansion is not feasible.
