The Kolkata Airport has upgraded the navigational aids on the primary Runway 19L with the operationalisation of the advanced CAT III ILS from the northern end, or the Madhyamgram side, on November 27, 2025. This system was already installed for flights approaching from the New Town side, allowing aircraft to touch down with visibility as low as 50 metres. The availability of the CAT III ILS on both sides ensures seamless landings and improves the airport’s operational reliability.
