Centre approves Rs 44.77 billion greenfield highway connecting Bhubaneswar and Paradip

The Indian government has sanctioned Rs 44.77 billion for a greenfield highway project linking Bhubaneswar with Paradip in Odisha. This new access-controlled, high-speed road aims to drastically reduce travel time and improve safety between the state capital and the key port town. The improved connectivity is expected to boost trade and industrial development, especially benefiting sectors dependent on Paradip port such as shipping, manufacturing, and logistics.

After experiencing delays, the project is back on track following the central government’s financial nod. According to officials, the highway will not only ease freight movement but also attract investment, generate employment, and drive regional economic growth. This infrastructure push aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Odisha’s transport network and support its expanding economy.
