Oil India Limited (OIL) and TotalEnergies signed a technology service agreement on November 19, 2025 to strengthen collaborations for exploration activities in deep and ultra-deepwater offshore frontiers of the Indian sedimentary basins, including stratigraphic wells, as mandated by the Government of India. The move will leverage the expertise of TotalEnergies in the deep and ultra-deepwater exploration value chain for the current and future offshore portfolio of OIL. As per the agreement, it will comprise the ongoing appraisal of gas finds in the shallow offshore blocks in the Andaman basin, and exploration in OIL’s Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP)-IX ultra-deepwater blocks in the Mahanadi and Krishna-Godavari basins. It will also involve evaluating of opportunities under the ongoing OALP-X or future bid rounds, and supporting the stratigraphic well drilling initiative in offshore Category II and III basins.
