IR has commissioned a Gati Shakti cargo terminal (GCT) at Jakhapura in Jajpur district, Odisha, under the Khurda division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone. The terminal has been developed at an investment of Rs 368.5 million, with capacity to manage about 86 rakes per month. Further, it has been designed to handle four lines for shipping cement, along with receiving other commodities like clinker, slag and gypsum. The terminal is expected to enhance freight handling efficiency, reduce logistics costs and strengthen the industrial supply chain in the region.
