Indian public sector undertaking (PSU) oil companies have concluded a one-year structured contract for the import of around 2.2 mtpa of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the US Gulf Coast in contract year 2026. This marks the first structured US LPG contract of its kind for India. The contract accounts for around 10 per cent of annual LPG imports in India. The move highlights efforts for diversifying LPG sourcing options to ensure secure, affordable and reliable supplies, while also strengthening the country’s energy security.
