The Network Planning Group (NPG) of ‘PM GatiShakti National Master Plan’ evaluated the three railways projects. These are:
- Barbendra–Damrughutu Doubling and Damrughutu–Bokaro Third Rail Line Project: It entails developing third and fourth railway lines between Barbendra and Damrughutu, covering 51.76 km across West Bengal and Jharkhand. The scope includes constructing one major bridge, eighteen minor bridges, one Road Under Bridge (RUB), and extending an existing level crossing. Besides, the project will upgrade five station yards including block cabins and involve the construction of five major bridges, fifty-two minor bridges, five RUBs, as well as extensions to five additional level crossings.
- Jamalpur-Munger Rail Doubling Project: It involves doubling of the existing 15 km railway line from Jamalpur to Munger, along with the construction of a bridge over the Ganga river in Bihar. It is expected to be completed by July 2030.
- Santragachi–Kharagpur Fourth Railway Line Project: It aims to develop a 133.78 km additional line between Santragachi and Kharagpur in West Bengal. The alignment spans 50.319 km in Howrah district, 26.7 km in East Medinipur, and 33.9 km in West Medinipur. The project includes upgrading 30 station yards and constructing one important bridge, 15 major bridges, 100 minor bridges, and 12 RUBs.
