Paradip Port Authority (PPA) in Odisha has registered the fastest ever achievement of handling 100 million metric tonnes (mmt) of cargo throughput in a fiscal year. As of November 27, 2025, the port clocked 100.15 mmt, crossing the mark 12 days earlier than last year, reaching the milestone in 241 days compared to 253 days in FY 2024-25.
This marks the ninth consecutive year PPA has cleared the 100 mmt threshold. The overall growth stands at 4.78 per cent year-on-year, driven by substantial increases across major cargo categories: container cargo surged 32 per cent, gypsum and flux 24 per cent, steel cargo 35 per cent, and petroleum, and oil and lubricants 31 per cent. Coal which makes up roughly 45 per cent of total volume also witnessed 3.76 per cent growth.
