Installation of signalling system completed on Baradevi-Naubasta stretch under Kanpur Metro Rail Phase I Project

The installation of signalling system has been completed on Baradevi-Naubasta stretch under the Kanpur Metro Rail Phase I Project. Besides, partial acceptance test (PAT) has commenced on the stretch. The stretch includes the following stations; Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Bauddh Nagar, and Naubasta.

About 24 signals were installed between Baradevi and Naubasta; eight at Baradevi station, 10 at Naubasta, and two each at the three intermediate stations (Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, and Bauddh Nagar). The Indoor cabling for signalling system was also completed along with the installation of train radio access antennas.

First, a PICO test verified the wiring connections. Next, the PAT began, checking various signalling components such as signals, antennas, and related equipment. Finally, the system acceptance test will run, during which trains will be operated and evaluated using the same signalling system.

The Kanpur Metro Project involves development of 33 km long metro rail system in Uttar Pradesh at an investment of Rs 110.76 billion.
