The second rake of Vande Bharat Sleeper train, manufactured by the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) using the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) technology has successfully achieved its maximum speed of 180 km per hour (kmph) during its trial run on the Sawai-Madhopur-Kota-Nagda section in the Kota division of the West Central Railway (WCR) zone.
The trial is being conducted to test its technical efficiency, braking capacity, stability, vibration and reliability of mechanical and electrical systems. Moreover, the testing of the train was conducted with simulating passenger load, carrying total 908 tonnes of load (800 tonnes of rake’s weight and 108 tonnes of extra load).
Further, the train completed the long confirmatory run (LCR) on 50 km long stretch between Rohalkhurd-Laban stations at 180 kmph of speed. The train also underwent oscillation trial and wet track emergency braking tests. Besides, the trial run will be conducted till November 17, 2025 under the supervision of the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO).
