Indian Railways (IR) has achieved a cumulative freight loading of 935.1 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year (FY) 2025-26 (till October 2025), representing a 3.1 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year. Moreover, coal registered a cumulative loading of 462.8 mt. The cumulative freight revenue during this period stood at Rs 1,009.2 billion.
Besides, in October 2025 alone, IR recorded a freight loading of 133.9 mt, marking a 2.3 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. This includes an increase of 27.8 per cent in fertilisers, 18.4 per cent in pig iron and finished steel, 10.8 per cent in balance other goods, 5.7 per cent in containers, and 4.8 per cent in iron ore loading. Further, IR generated freight revenue of Rs 142.16 billion in October 2025.
